Brown Bess, Tower flintlock musket, India Pattern, circa 1790-1820 muzzle-loading flintlock musket with .708inch calibre; smoothbore; brass fittings; has butt tang; missing: ramrod; sling swivel on trigger guard and on forend markings: maker’s mark on lock: TOWER / [crown] / GR on top of barrel: X GR X GR (an early type of proof marking) furniture maker’s initials under butt: JJB left hand side above trigger (worn down): [JJB]
