This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on 19 April 1963, "Mrs. F. W. Coombs, the wife of the president of the Returned Services Association, selling a poppy to a shopper in the Square today. Judging by the shoppers who were wearing poppies, the association poppy sellers had a successful day."
