- Description
This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 14 December 1960 "Have you ever wondered how the post-mark is put on your letters? On the right in this photograph is the machine which performs this task. Capable of post-marking many hundreds of letters a minute, it does a job which was once a laboriously hand-performed labour. Behind the machine are some of the staff of the mail room busily sorting the Christmas mails."
