Description

The steamer Stormbird, 217 tons, which was wrecked last Saturday night while proceeding to Wellington, three of the crew being drowned. It was wrecked at the mouth of the Whanganui River on the night of 2 September 1916 with the loss of three crew. Captain Arthur Sutherland Gibson and the rest of the crew survived.
