Showing a procession of returned soldiers marching up Queen Street in July 1919, to mark the official proclamation of peace after World War I. The procession is marching past John Court's department store centre right, situated on the corner of Queen and Victoria Street. The crowd is lining the footpath in front of the shop and on the other side has flowed into the centre of Queen Street to make a narrow aisle through which the procession is passing.
