Description

Political cartoon where John Bull (Britain) has chosen a Japanese bride for his colonial (New Zealand) son. The son wants to marry a European New Zealand girl 'to keep the race pure.' So the cartoon combines New Zealand's incipient racism about 'the yellow peril' with concern about how Britain is making alliances with the rising power, Japan, while neglecting the interests of its white colonists in the Pacific.
