Description

The Egmont Hotel on the corner of Princes and High Streets in Hawera before it burned down in a fire on 29 August 1895. This hotel had only been rebuilt 2 years before in 1893 (Architect: Cuthbert John Brodrick; Builder Mr Price). The fire originated in the adjoining premises of C. Smith's drapery (right).
