As a way of entertaining children and keeping them occupied during the Covid-19 lockdown many New Zealand homes began placing teddy bears in street-facing windows, or on fences, trees, mailboxes and other areas outside their homes. Inspired by the popular children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen (which features the refrain “We’re not scared”) the idea was for children to “hunt” for bears when going walks around their neighbourhoods.
