Description

Photograph of an old Wallace plough, made in Otahuhu. Farmer and engineer James Wallace had established himself as a plough manufacturer in Otahuhu by or before 1866. In 1870 he manufactured on a trial basis what was said to be the first double furrow plough ever made in New Zealand (see 'Otahuhu: successful trial of the double furrow plough', NZ Herald, 30 July 1870, p. 5).
