Description

Te Rangitahau, also known as Tahau, outside a wharenui (sleeping house), at Waipahihi, Lake Taupo. His wife, Ngaikiha Te Raukura, peers out of the window, and one of their two son's sits in the doorway. The patu 'Totoringa' is held in his right hand. Tahau was a lieutenant of Te Kooti from 1868 to the beginning of 1870.
