Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 17 April, 1959. "This could well be the plea of little Karen as her mother, Mrs R. Williams, buys a poppy from Mr R. Yates in the Square this morning. Mr Yates was one of the many men and women who gave up the day to sell poppies."
