Map of the Papatoetoe Road District as it was in 1885 [sic], after its southern boundary with the Manurewa Road District had been extended. Map hand-drawn by local historian Ivy F. Smytheman in 1955. The Papatoitoi Highway District, as it was known at the time, was first defined on 28 October 1865, although it did not come into operation until 5 February 1868.
