Description

This postcard celebrates a tug of war competition run by the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in Wellington on 3 October 1914, which was won by the 13th Regiment team. Sergeant (later Captain) Thomas Wyville Leonard Rutherfurd (1890-1918) was one of the team. This postcard was amongst a group of personal effects cared for by his fiancé, Dorothy Broad, which are now held in Te Papa's collections.
