John Lees Faulkner (1807-1882). John was born at Nottingham in Nottinghamshire, England in 1807. In 1840 the family moved to Tauranga, staying first at Maungatapu Pā for a short time before taking up residence on land at Ōtūmoetai where his wife Ruawahine was from. On 26 January 1857 Faulkner married Elizabeth Humphries after his previous wife died on 24 September 1855. It is at this time that John Faulkner added his mother's maiden name as his middle name, becoming 'John Lees Faulkner'. John...
