Lower Mangapapa Power Station from the air in 1996. The station opened in April 1979 and is situated about 500 metres upstream of Lake McLaren. At the bottom of the photo is Mangapapa River. Immediately behind the station is the Generation switchyard and the power lines extending off to the left go to the Ruahihi switchyard. Taken May 8, 1996 by David Vernon for Kaimai Hydropower with information provided by David Hyde and Roger Jamieson.
