Description

Prime Minister William Ferguson Massey sitting in a car after officially opening the Waiuku branch railway line on 5 January 1922. The Prime Minister joined the official excursion train at Auckland on the day. At Waiuku he took the controls and drove the train the last few metres into the station. After the ceremony, he and other members of the official party motored to Pukekohe, dined at the Pukekohe Hotel, and caught the Main Trunk express to Wellington.
