Description

Dates for the next 30 years of the new Matariki public holiday were released at a special ceremony this morning. The calendar date for the public holiday will shift each year to align with the maramataka - the Māori lunar calendar - but will always be on a Friday. The first will be held on June 24 next year. Susie Ferguson spoke to reporter Jamie Tahana, who was at the dawn ceremony at Te Papa Tongarewa.
