These fearful items came from the "murder house" at Otamarakau School. This is of course dental equipment from the school dental clinic. These school clinics were founded in 1921 as a response to the appalling state of children's teeth in this country. Children's oral health arrangements have changed drastically over the years, but the dentist's grim reputation remains intact for thousands of children who are forced to visit the "murder house".
