Microsatellite markers were used with 100 genomic deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) isolated from locally adapted rabbits in Nigeria (New Zealand White, New Zealand Red, Californian White and Chinchilla rabbit breeds) to determine genetic variation amongst the breeds as well as the power of selected microsatellite markers i.e. combined exclusion probabilities (CEP) its polymorphism information content (PIC) in efforts to establish the genetic insights into this micro livestock resource in Nigeria
