This mobile phone, the Motorola DynaTAC, was launched in 1984 and was the world's first commercial handheld cell phone. Due to its shape, it quickly earned the nickname 'the brick'. At its launch it sold for $4,000 american dollars ( the equivalent of $10,000 New Zealand dollars in 2018).
