- Description
The descendent of Katikati pioneer settlers Noble and Eliza Johnston, Ian was very active in the community and in local rugby. He first played for the Senior team in 1931 at the age of 16 and kept playing until 1949, earning himself the title of "the old master". He continued his participation in the club, becoming a selector and later an administrator. He was awarded a life membership of the cub and was club patron from 1984-1989.
