Microtubule stabilising agents are a class of cytotoxic compounds that cause mitotic arrest through inhibition of microtubule function. They specifically target β-tubulin subunits promoting tubulin polymerisation, which eventually leads to cell death. Members of this drug class include the cancer chemotherapeutics paclitaxel and ixabepilone.
