This New Zealand flag was carried at Gallipoli by Neil James McPhee (9/324). Neil was wounded at Gallipoli but returned home; however, his elder brother was not so fortunate. Donald McPhee (8/1305) was killed at Gallipoli on the 2nd of May 1915, according to Auckland War Memorial Museum's Online Cenotaph, and is buried in the Redoubt Cemetery of Helles, Turkey. The McPhee brothers came from Colac Bay and enlisted in Dunedin for the Southland Mounted Rifles, a subsidiary of the Otago Regiment....
