Description

A framed, hand-coloured portrait of Edith Jane Turner (née Wallace). Edith was born on 30 May 1876 at Orepuki, her parents were John and Mary Jane Wallace (nee Roderick). John was a miner at Orepuki, the couple had 14 children of which Edith was the eldest. Edith married George Turner on 5 December 1906 and they had one child, Edna Hazel Turner who was born the following year. George was born on Guernsey, worked as an ironmonger's salesman and died in 1944 and is buried in Saint John Cemetery...
