A black and white portrait of the McGregor family taken in c.1916. William McGregor was born in Kaiapoi in 1874 and married Ellen Boyd in Kaikoura in 1900. They farmed at Mount Linton. William became deeply involved in the community, having seats on the Ohai Railway Board, Bluff Harbour Board, and the Wallace County Council among others. His business interests even spread to the idea of New Zealand Fur Seal farming (refer to an article in the Western Star dated 20 March 1934). Much tragedy be...
