A black and white photograph of Captain William Stevens and Frances Emma Stevens (née Galliot). Captain William Stevens was born in 1825, in Sussex England, a son of George and Mary Stevens. Mary had previously been married to William Howell, father of Captain William Howell, making these two sea captains half brothers. William Stevens immigrated to Australia in 1840 with his family aboard the 'Alfred', being amongst the first of the free settlers to arrive in New South Wales. Life there prov...
