This view of the bush at Athenree with Katikati Heads in the distance is taken through a wire fence in the foreground. Katikati Heads [now known as Bowentown Heads], was once a volcanic island but is now located at the northern entrance to Te Awanui (Tauranga Harbour) and joined to the mainland by a tombolo spit.
