Description

These scrolls were sent to the families of each of the British and Empire dead of the First World War. They symbolised the nation's gratitude for the service and suffering of the deceased and their families. This particular scroll acknowledged the sacrifice of Private Hermann John Rolfes (31538) of the Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion.
