Description

This Gladstone bag once belonged to William Templeton. A Gladstone bag is a small suitcase, typically made of stiff leather, and built over a rigid frame which could separate into two equal sections. The Patent for "An Improvement In The Frames Of Travelling Bags" was registered by Edward Cole in 1854, Gladstones are named after William Ewart Gladstone (1809–1898), who was elected four times to be Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
