This postcard shows the Edendale Railway Station, which was opened on 7 June 1875. Railway travel was the most comfortable, efficient and fastest mode of travel in the 1870s when roads were often muddy tracks. By 1882 the railway station was described as one of the most important on the line, undertaking a large amount of business in goods and passengers.
