Description

This is a Certificate of Acknowledgement for the Service given by Private James Telfer of the Otago Infantry Regiment N.Z.E.F in World War 1. These certificates were presented to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the war. James came from Mataura Island and enlisted for World War One at Wyndham in 1916. As a 22-year old Private in the Otago Regiment, James was killed in action in France on 24 August 1918. He is buried in Beaulencourt British Cemetery, Ligny-Thilloy, France.
