Description

A natural waterworn cobble of dark green and olive, takiwai/tangiwai pounamu (bowenite greenstone) with a host rock attached. It has high translucency in places with a schistose texture. Stone tool specialist, the late Russell Beck, noted that the host rock is attached and that the probable source of this pounamu is Fiordland.
