Description

Raymond Hrstich (son of Milan and Danica) holding an octopus c. 1950 At low tide, by the present day Surf Club (2017) there were many rock pools. A woman was in a rock pool and the octopus attached itself to her leg. The octopus fell off as the woman ran for help. Raymond then went into the rock pool to catch the octopus. Milan Hrstich relocated 5 trams to Mangawhai in 1956 following the decomission of the trams in Auckland, siting them on good sections with sea views
