Description

A waku kaitara (rasp) made from buff coloured tunaeke (sandstone). It has been hammer-dressed and has use wear on several faces, there is some recent scuffing on one side. Stone tool specialist, the late Russell Beck identified the probable source of stone for this waku kaitara as unknown. Waku kaitara were used to coarsely shape materials, usually wood or bone.
