Description

A green grey natural pakohe (argillite) ventifact. It has been hammer-dressed about about one quarter of the way along which suggests that it may have been used as a kuru (mallet). One end tapers to a point that is triangular in cross section. Stone tool specialist, the late Russell Beck, identified the probable source of stone as being from Tihaka. Ventifacts are stones that have been shaped by wind-blasted sand over time.
