A hōanga (grindstone) made from buff coloured tunaeke (sandstone). It has use wear on both faces and appears to be a waterworn slab that has been used as a grindstone. Stone tool specialist, the late Russell Beck, noted that the probable source of stone is local. Hōanga were used to polish and sharpen toki and whao.
