Description

This bronze pīwakawaka is the work of sculptor Paul Dibble. The work, titled Gateway, features a large fantail, perched on a Corten steel base, and references Maui myths, with the pīwakawaka perched on a stylised leafy gate. The sculpture was temporarily installed at the intersection of Main and Andrew Young streets to complement an art exhibition by the sculptor's wife, Fran Dibble, on display at the nearby Zimmerman Art Gallery.
