A black and white photograph labelled as 'Stan Stuart'. Stanley Stuart was born in Southland in 1896, son of John Stuart and Margaret 'Annie' Stuart (née Poole). Stan joined the N.Z.E.F. in 1916, he was wounded in September 1918, and by the end of the war was a Lance Corporeal (although he appears to have lost this rank after the war's end, after being guilty of being absent without leave in England).
