Description

A brass A brass and silver cap badge for the 13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Infantry Regiment. It features Roman numerals XIII (13) in the centre, flanked by ferns, which sits atop a banner that reads 'KIA PONO TONU' (ever faithful in Te Reo Maori), with a crown at the top. The 'NZI' stands for New Zealand Infantry. The 13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment was formed in 1911 from Volunteer infantry units in Christchurch, North Canterbury, and Westland.
