Victoria (known as Queenie) Palmer was born to Henry (Harry) and Honorra (Nora) Palmer (nee Riordan). She spent seven years from the age of seven living with a cousin, Harrieta Neal, in Brightwater after her husband died. Queenie's family lived in Wakefield and later shifted to Richmond to live in the former Red Horse Inn on Gladstone Road.
