- Description
New Zealand's Ken James keeps wicket while England's Gubby Allen bats during the England v New Zealand Test at Lord's, 1931. There is a dark smudge below James' hands which could be the ball. Allen is looking towards mid-off - did he hit it there, or is he looking in that direction to disguise a nick to the 'keeper? Either way, James' awkward stance indicates he wasn't catching this one. Allen hit a century in England's first innings of the drawn Test.
