Description

A decommissioned 25 pounder gun on display outside the Manurewa RSA clubrooms in Maich Road. During the Second World War, the gunners of 2nd New Zealand Division used the 25 pounder in Greece, North Africa and Italy; it was also used in the Korean War. The 25 pounder last saw operational service in New Zealand with territorial units in 1977 (some 25 pounders remain in use today as ceremonial guns).
