A wide range of novel, non-traditional, stable isotope systems have been developed over the last decade, largely as a result of the advent of multiple-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS), and continue to provide valuable new insights in the earth, environmental and planetary sciences.
