A photographic copy of an earlier image of pupils of Heddon Bush School. Heddon Bush School was a small rural school situated approximately 15 minutes from Winton in Central Southland. Heddon Bush School was officially opened on Monday the 14th of March, 1881. There were 13 students and just one teacher. Over a century the roll fluctuated, up to 49 pupils and down to just 10. From 1963 the school was a two teacher school and since the late 1990s the school has had three classrooms
