Description

A braided leather stock whip with a leather handle that appears to have been reinforced with a metal rod. This whip was donated by Mrs. Margaret Gillies McVicar (neé Frentz) of Tuatapere. Margaret was born at Orepuki on 26 May 1881 the daughter of Danish born Carl ‘Charles’ Frentz and Mary Frew. She married Donald McVicar, a West Coast miner on 3 February 1914. After World War One they farmed at Happy Valley/Te Tua
