Description

A photographic postcard of the old Cromwell bridge with the Pisa Range in the background. The original bridge was built in 1866 and was a wooden lattice bridge, built on three stone piles. The wooden bridge was removed in 1890 and replaced with a steel framed bridge, built on the existing piles, in 1891. This bridge was closed in 1986 and was submerged in water in 1993 due to the opening of the Clyde dam down stream. A note on reverse reads: 'Just a line or two to let you know that I will be ...
