Telegram from Sir George Grey to James McEffer Shera where Grey officially offers his library to the citizens of Auckland, dated 19 June 1882.Grey asks that Shera talk to the Mayor regarding this gift on the understanding it would be kept under the same guardianship as the library he gifted to Cape Town, South Africa, with the Mayor and 'Corporation' as trustees.
