Says that he is a New Zealander, the son of George Te Waru and from Rangiaohia, who has gone to Austria on the Novara; that he is a friend of Governor Browne who has allowed him to travel. Gives reason for writing that he saw a newspaper in Vienna with Grey’s name in it, which caused him to weep. Lauds Grey as Governor of New Zealand, the best, whom all Maori love and New Zealanders want to return; who taught Maori European skills and made them judges with their own councils.
