Prologue of Jean de Meun addressed to Philip IV of France (1285-1314), followed by a French translation by an anonymous translator. Binding: Post-medieval (probably 17th century) vellum over pasteboards. Lettered on spine: 'Boece de la consolat'. Layout: Written in 33 lines ruled in plummet with glosses on each side or interrupting the text and written the full width of the page within bounding-lines 148 mm wide.
