Description

Naval greatcoat belonging to Able Seaman Vincent John Brown 8497, a telegraphist in the NZ Navy in WW2, late of Cromwell and Lowburn Valley. A black, lined woollen overcoat, four buttons at the front, two on the collar and two on each sleeve. There is a flap with a button hole near bottom of left side. There is a pleat at the back, two deep side pockets and four inside pockets. V J Brown is stencilled printed inside and a sewn patch "Kaiapoi Proofed Overcoating".
